I just found out that my aunt has moved up to stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her liver, lymnode, leg, neck etc. I don’t know much about cancer and all I really want to know is what is the survival rate when you’ve reached stage 4? The doctors plan on Chemo therapy.
Have you heard that if you do not have medical insurance your chance of survivig cancer is only 48%?

I am reading the book “The Cancer Vixen” and in it she states that if you have cancer and do not have insurance the survival rate drops to 48%. That is a huge drop of survival rates, do you agree?
She stated the facts from the American Cancer Society. When she got breast cancer stage 1 she did not have any insurance. I cannot imagine trying to fight cancer without it can you?
So far our costs for 6 months is about $200,000. In USA Today, it reports that Americans are not doing all the treaments of chemotherapy and radiation because they cannot afford it, that is a shame!

Hello Everyone, I have been researching a lot about breast cancer today because I have it.
This is what I have
Stage iV Met. Breast Cancer
4 infected nodes
2 tumors…..1) 3cm 2)1cm
Cancer cells on LIver but not a tumor
HER2/pos.
I am on my first round of CMF chemotherapy, and I take Herceptin every three weeks.
Everything I find on the internet isabout having 12-24 months to live. My onocologist has never said anything about my life being that short. I know there is a chance that I won’t beat this, espeically if it spreads anywhere else……it was caughter earlier then one thinks, the spread anyway, cause I had a misscarriage and they said the higher hormones when I was pregnant is when it started to spread……
Any information or any websites where there is info on surviours would be great. Thanks.

Other than basal cell skin cancer, what kind of common cancer has the best five year survival rate? Obviously no cancer is good, but who has better odds of survival, say someone diagnosed with early stage breast cancer or someone with early stage Hodgkin lymphoma? How about early stage melanoma or colon cancer? What percentage of people with say Hodgkin lymphoma die as opposed to percentage with say breast cancer or colon cancer or kidney cancer? I’m asking for a friend who is tired of being told Hodgkin lymphoma is “a good cancer to get.” He thinks it’s really insulting.

I’ve had small bumps around my nipples ever since i’ve had boobs, but i just noticed that i seem to have gotten more.Is this normal and could it be cancerous?????I know most people say to check for lumps, and its not really a lump(more like a bump)just wondering if it’s serious or normal? Does anyone else get these?
If anyone knows any websites that have pictures of this stuff i’d appreciate it.
Okay i asked for advice i already know i’ll have to eventually go see a doctor if you people can’t actually be helpful and give real information on here then don’t answer my question okay.

Hi,
Our doctor mentioned that chemotherapy could last for 6 months for young women (under 35) even at a stage 2a node negative grade 3 breast cancer.
I heard that some young people in similar situation get away with 2-3 months.
6 months, Isn’t it too long?

I’m a Stage-4 Breast Cancer Patient; currently under Hospice Care. I love the Internet, as it provides me my much needed Lifeline to the rest of the world; thereby helping me to get far away from cancer pain, etc.
I finally had the energy to come back here today–Monday, Oct. 9th–to see if anyone had even read my question.
Each One of You took the time to answer–with so much heartfelt Honesty, Love, & Support.
I’m overwhelmed by Your show of Support & Your Honesty about Your own cancer journeys–be it You who is also a patient– &/or a precious Family Member.
Thank You All for taking the time to come to my little question, & leave such BIG Encouragement, Site referrals, & Good Wishes.
God Bless each & every One of You, & Your own Loved Ones.

We are writing speeches in my english class, and it’s supposed to be about something you believe in fighting for.
Since my aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer, I am going to write my speech about finding the cure for breast cancer.
So, if you can, please help me out a bit:
1. About how many women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year?
2. About how many of these women die?
3. What is the average survival rate?
4. Are we any closer to finding a cure in ‘09 than in the early 2000’s?
Thank you very much

iMy name is lynda, and have lost the true love of my life to breast cancer, the memories of her fading before my eyes will always be with me, i have also lost my brother and mum to cancer. it is such a huge killer, if only all the monies used on bomb making to kill the world were spent on cancer research then not only cancer would be cured but lots of other disease.
the world is obsessed with killing people lets just wise up and discover the beauty of life and not the horror of death and dicease , imagine how happy i would be be to have carmel beside me now alive cured, so many of us that have lost dear ones know this loss and the agony of if only, we have got to put pressure on our policitans to redirect funds away from killing to saving lives there are more ordinary people that policitions so people power would make the differance not violance but human dignity power for they will have lost dear ones also, life is beautyiful and worth the effort at lets try harder.x
regards Lynda.
