A dear friend was recently diagnosed with stage 3b breast cancer and had an immediate double mastectomy. They also removed some of her lymph nodes. She had her first chemo session yesterday and she doesn’t like to talk about what’s going on very much. In what ways can I help, support, and love her?

breast cancer staging

My mum has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She has had lymph nodes removed which tested positive to cancer. She is only 44, never noticed the lump till it was red and sore and it was misdiagnosed at first for a cist. I was wondering what tests are now to follow to see if the cancer has spread further into her body, and what is the life expectancy on something like this?

I read that Tamoxifen can be used in people in the advanced stages of breast cancer. Will it still be helpful at all if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes?

breast cancer survival rates

The cancer did not spread to the lymph nodes or any part of her body. She will go through chemotherapy and radiation. We’re all optimistic she will live a very long life, but the only statistics I’ve seen is that 5 yr survival rate. Is there any data beyond that? Breast cancer survivor responses only please!

breast cancer staging

Hi,
My wife is 32 and has a breast cancer stage 2A no lymph nodes involved. She is ER(estrogen) positive and PR low positive. We are going to meet the oncologist tomorrow.

We heard that some people in similar case have to take hormone treatment for at least 5 years after Chemotherapy and some other people get injections.

Are we going to have to pay for any of these and how long is usually the treatment?

Thanks for your comment.

stage 4 breast cancer

My sister was diagnosed last week with stage 4 breast cancer. She learned about the cancer because her stomach filled with fluid and a biopsy of the fluid revealed cancer cells in the fluid. A mamogram and breast biopsy also revealed breast cancer. We are just sick about this. She starts chemotherapy today. My question is, can the cancer cells in the fluid in the stomach cause the cancer to spread to other organs. Does this mean that she definately has it in her lymph nodes? Is the fluid most likely caused by the tumor draining into her stomach. I am just confused because from what I have read stage 4 means the cancer has spread to other organs. Finally, is there hope for this type of cancer. I can use all the information I can find. That you for your help and time.

I know that it is rare for stage 1 breast cancer to come back later and metastasize, but is it for stage 2a breast cancer? Stage 2a means no lymph nodes involved.
